December 2008
Monday, December 15:
Pack Meeting at Summit Place, 6:00 pm. Sing carols and spread holiday cheer! This month's theme: Holiday Lights.

Saturday, December 13:
Pack Event: Salvation Army bell ringing. Join all the packs of Eden Prairie as we ring bells in seven locations throughout the city. 11-8, sign up for shifts will occur in November.

January 2009

Friday, January 9:
Pinewood Derby Weigh-in at Cedar Ridge, 6:30 - 7:30 pm

Pack Event: Pinewood Derby at Cedar Ridge, 1:00 - 3:00 pm

Saturday, January 24:
Polar Cubs! Join us for this council-wide winter day camp. Polar Cubs is a blast -- talk to your den leader today to see if your den will be attending. If they aren't going, hook on with another den. Polar Cubs is held at Phillippo Scout Reservation, just outside of Cannon Falls. It starts around 8:30 am, gets done around 3 pm, and is ALL OUTSIDE FUN! Contact Beth McCoy if you would like to register.

February 2009

Sunday, February 1:
Superbowl broomball party. Dungan's house, 1:30 - ?. Bring brooms if you have them. We'll teach you how to play (parents included!), and have some fun on the ice! Dress for the weather, no skates needed.

Sunday, February 8:
Blue and Gold Banquet, 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Immanuel Lutheran Church, 16515 Luther Way, EP.  Our senior webelos will receive the Arrow of Light, and graduate to their Boy Scout troops.

Thursday, February 19:
Akela Meeting, 7:00 pm

Friday, February 27 - Saturday, February 28:
Pack Event: Winter Cabin Overnight. Earn a belt loop, or just have fun with your friends. This is a great boy-bonding experience!

March 2009
Saturday, March 14:
Pack Event:
Feed My Starving Children. 11:30 - 1:30, Chanhassen location. Come join us for our third pack-wide service project of the year. You must register in advance, so we know who's coming. Wear your scout uniform, and eat lunch before you come!

April 2009
Saturday, April 18:
Pack Event: Park Cleanup, Pioneer Park, 9:30 am. Celebrate Earth Day, earn a patch, start working on your Leave No Trace award, or just come for the treats and to clean up a local park.

Monday, April 20:
Pack Meeting at Cedar Ridge, 6:30 pm. The ever-popular egg drop is back! Construct a small package that will protect a raw egg dropped from a ladder truck. Parachutes optional.

Friday, April 24:
Akela Meeting, 7:00 pm

Saturday, April 25:
Pack Event: Scouting for Food. Collection of donated food bags happens throughout the morning in our assigned neighborhood. Join us for our final pack-wide service project of the year. Collection times determined by the dens.
 
May 2009
Sunday, May 17:
Pack Event: Bike Rodeo! A chance to test your biking skills, and get your bike checked out for the season. More details on time and location to come!

Monday, May 18:
Pack Meeting at Staring Lake Outdoor Center, 6:30 pm. We will cross over to our new ranks!

Friday, May 29:
Akela Meeting, 7:00 pm

Saturday, May 30 - Sunday, May 31:
Family Camping, Parley Lake Campsite, Carver Park Reserve. Join us for a fun overnight! Bring your tent and basic camping supplies, and your meat to grill on Saturday night. The pack supplies the rest of dinner, all of Sunday's breakfast, and treats for around the campfire. This is a free event, fun for the whole family. On Sunday morning, we'll work on a sports belt loop, and everyone who participates can earn it.

Friday, June 6: Ticket orders and checks are due TODAY for the Star Wars Exhibit at the Science Museum (August 2). Click here for the order form.

Tuesday, June 10:
A Concert in the Park! We will travel to Bloomington, to the Normandale Lake Bandshell, for a concert put on by the Minnesota Symphonic Winds. This is an adult community band, and you'll have a neat opportunity -- Cubmaster Tracy will be playing with the band. The concert starts at 7:00. We will meet early, and work on the Music Belt Loop. Attending the concert will be the final requirement to earn the loop. If you are interested in earning the loop, please arrive at the bandshell at 6:30 -- we will meet at the top of the hill overlooking the lake. Find the pack flag and gather there.

Friday, June 13 through Monday, June 16:
Den 2 attends Camp Akela.

Sunday, June 22:
Mini Golf at Big Stone Mini Golf, 2:00 pm. The address is 7110 County Road 110 Extension(Outside of Mound). Directions: Go north on Hwy 41, west on Hwy 7, north on 44, left on County Road 110, 1 mile later turn right on 110 Extension. Cost: $5 per person (regularly $6 per person). Rain plan: Mini Golf at the Golf Zone.

July 2008
Wednesday, July 9:
Water Craft Night. Hyland Park, Bloomington, at the waterfront. The pack will rent the canoes, paddleboats, and rowboats. Come at 6 pm tp enjoy Chutes and Ladders, or come at 7 pm and meet us down at the waterfront, for an hour of watercraft fun from 7-8 pm. Wear your blue Pack 497 t-shirt.

Camp Akela for Dens 3,7, & 8. Den 3 will have the option of staying an extra night for the Webelos Outpost.

August 2008
Saturday, August 2:
Star Wars Exhibit, Science Museum of Minnesota. We'll get a group reservation, and you can join us for a whole day of fun at the Science Museum, or come in time for our reservation for the exhibit. You can reserve tickets for 1 pm or 2 pm, and add on the Omni Movie if you'd like -- the movie showing is Special Effects. Science Museum members get their regular discount PLUS the group discount. Tuesday, August 26:
Pack Family Picnic. Lake Riley, 5:00 pm. Look for our area -- we'll have the pack flag out. This will be a "bring your own meat to grill (and your own buns if needed)" event, and the pack will supply the sides.

Thursday, August 28:
Pack yearly planning meeting. Pack leaders and families meet at the Dungan's at 6 pm for dinner; the planning portion of the meeting starts at 7 pm. Watch for a new pack calendar following the meeting!

September 2008
Thursday, September 4:
Leaders: Mustang District Roundtable, 7:00 pm.  These are held on the first Thursday of every month throughout the school year. The location is Christ Presbyterian Church, Edina.

Friday, September 19:
T-shirt day! Wear your blue pack t-shirt to school today, invite your friends to Scout Day on Sunday. Have lunch with a pack leader!

Sunday, September 21:
Scout Day! Cedar Ridge Cafeteria, 3:00 - 4:00 pm. Bring your favorite scout item to show off. Invite your friends and classmates. We'll put on some fun scout activities (hopefully outside) while parents learn about and sign up for Cub Scouts in the cafeteria.

Monday, September 22:
Pack Meeting at Cedar Ridge, 6:30 pm.
RSVP's will be taken for the Corn Maze, and for the Owl Hike.

Sunday, September 28:
Pack Field Trip! Take a family trip to Severs Corn Maze for a fun fall afternoon! We'll meet at 2 pm for group entry, hit the start of the maze together -- you can stay as long as you'd like.
Where: Severs Corn Maze
Time: Arrive at 1:50

Cost: Scouts and registered leaders are $5. Family members are encouraged to come -- the $9 charge per person is a group rate.

Saturday, October 11:
Pack Field Trip! Owl Hike! A chilly night hike, where we'll use night vision to help spot owls around the lake, listen to owl calls, and then we'll have a campfire with s'mores and hot cocoa! Staring Lake Nature Center, 7 - 8:30 pm. Cost: Cub Scouts are FREE! If you are bringing a sibling who will participate, the cost is $6. Siblings who will just walk with us or sleep are free. Parents are free. What a deal! Be prepared and RSVP for this event at the pack meeting. Late RSVPs will be taken, but we need to give the Nature Center an idea as to how many will be coming.

Monday, October 20:
Pack Meeting at Cedar Ridge, 6:30 pm. This month's theme: Dress your Akela!

Saturday, October 25:
Leader Training: Pow Wow. This all day event is full of great learning opportunities for leaders. Topics range from specifics like "How to program a great Wolf year" to general like "Creative Discipline." Sign up for the whole day, or just a couple of classes -- whatever fits into your schedule. Click here for more information.

Monday, October 27:
Fundraiser orders due! Turn packets in to den leaders on or before today at 8:00 pm

November 2008
Sunday, November 2:
November Service Project:
Operation Christmas Child, 2:00 pm. Come join us for our first pack- wide service project of the year. We'll be filling shoeboxes with Christmas treats and presents, to send to children in third world countries. Bring some shoeboxes, a small item in bulk (like gum, pencils, etc.) to split between many boxes, and one or two small, non-violent toys. Let's see how many boxes we can fill! 

The cost to ship each box is $7. Any and all donations to offset this cost are appreciated.

Monday, November 17:
Pack Meeting at Cedar Ridge, 6:30 pm. Uniform inspection tonight, so dress your best! This month's theme: Adventures in Books.

Friday, November 21:
Akela Meeting, Henry's house, 7:00 pm

Friday, November 21 - Saturday, November 22:
Pick up your wreaths and calendars! Pick-up times are 4:00 - 8:00 pm on Friday or 12:00 noon - 4:00 pm on Saturday, at 10146 Laurel Drive. All orders should be delivered to your customers before Sunday, November 30th. Stay tuned for details on our successful fundraiser!
