| Webelos are 4th and 5th grade Scouts.
The 4th graders of Dens 2 and 3 are now Junior Webelos. They have a new book
to work from, and 20 new pins they can earn, ranging in topic from First Aid
to Engineering, Sportsmanship to Forestry. These boys are working on earning
their Webelos badge sometime this fall.
Den 2 has chosen their patrol name -- they are now the
Dragon Patrol. Den 3 has also chosen their patrol name -- they are the
Raven Patrol. Rumor has it they have both developed a den cheer, too.
Dens 4 and 5, the Eagle Patrol and Roadrunner
Patrol, are the Senior Webelos of the pack. They are finishing the last of
their activity pins. Many of them will actually earn the Super Achiever
Award, a patch for boys who have completed all 20 activity pins. Wow! At the
same time, they are checking out the troops of Eden Prairie, to make the
decision of what troop they will graduate to in February. The Webelos are
attending outdoor events, troop meetings, courts of honor, and putting in
service hours side-by-side with a troop.
Our Webelos at the City Council Meeting on
Tuesday, March 18th.
What should I be working on?
For the Senior Webelos to earn the Arrow of Light, you must:
Visit one troop meeting and one troop outdoor activity. We have 6
troops in Eden Prairie to choose from -- you might want to check out a
couple to help make your decision!
Have a Scoutmaster Conference. Talk to the leader of a Boy Scout
troop about what to expect out of Boy Scouts. It's a whole different ball
game! Test out of the memory requirements. We'll have an interview
night, for you to demonstrate that you know the Scout Oath, Motto, Slogan,
and Law -- how to say them, and what they mean to you. You also need to be
able to tie a square knot, demonstrate the sign, salute, and handshake, and
explain the parts of the First Class badge of Boy Scouts.
Complete the Honesty Character Connection with your family. You can't
do it in a den meeting, so set aside a few minutes to talk with your family.
Find the requirements in your Webelos Handbook. |
